Valeo and Anritsu are expanding their digital-twin approach to vehicle-connectivity testing, adding use cases such as the eCall emergency-call function. The companies announced the update on October 26 for the 5G Automotive Association meeting in New Delhi.
The system connects Valeo’s virtual electronic-control-unit platform with Anritsu’s cellular-network simulation technology. Engineers can recreate changing network conditions in a controlled environment instead of relying entirely on vehicles driven repeatedly through physical test routes.
The partners say the approach can simulate transitions between mobile-network operators as well as scenarios involving multiple vehicles and vehicle-to-network or vehicle-to-everything communication. Cloud-based and local configurations are intended to make those tests repeatable and easier to scale.
This matters as more vehicle functions depend on reliable connectivity, from software updates to emergency communications. A virtual environment can help teams reproduce difficult network situations earlier in development and investigate faults consistently. The announcement describes a validation tool and an expanded demonstration; it does not establish that physical testing or safety assessment is no longer necessary.
